Darcy is one of a kind dog that just loves to work at any job he’s given. He’s just as happy helping patients in rehabilitation at the hospital as he is working hard in the field flushing birds.

Darcy Flush 1

Born one day before my birthday he represents the breed well in every endeavor he participates in. He is also the namesake behind Pemberley Fields Reg’d Kennel.

Darcy finished his Canadian Championship as a young dog with multiple group placements; each placement had been awarded the day after having worked in the field.

Darcy Sel Dog

2010 FSSA National Speciality Select Dog

TRULY a versatile dog.

His UKC Championship was achieved in one weekend with breed points against other Field Spaniels and with a Group 3 placement. Darcy then joined the ranks of the elite by being one of few Field Spaniels to have ever earned a UKC Best in Show title. He remains the only Field Spaniel to have won a Field Trial Stake.

After a very limited showing in America, Darcy earned his AKC Championship with two large Majors at both of the 2007 Field Spaniel Society of America’s National Specialty Trailor Shows. He then earned his third and final Major by taking Best of Winners at the Fox River Field Spaniel Specialty Show in Nov 2007.

Darcy winning AOM at the 2009 Fox River Field Spaniel Specialty, handled by Kristin Karboski. His Uncle Monty won Best in Specialty, and his son and daughter, Fitz and Hope, won Winners Dog/Best of Winners and Reserve Winners Bitch respectively.

Darcy has since been shown in the US very rarely while I’ve been deployed in Afghanistan for 2008. He is now a Multi-Group Placer in three different registries (AKC/CKC/UKC) and has earned legs towards his Senior Hunter (SH) title.

Darcy making breed history by taking First place at his very first Field Trial Stake

Not only has Darcy had success in the show ring, but he also claims the honour of being the first ever Field Spaniel to place in a competitive Field Trial Stake. Darcy not only placed in the trial, he took home the blue ribbon. This was made all the more amazing, as it had been the first Field Trial for both Darcy and myself. Of course the fact that he was a show dog at a Field Trial turned a few heads…. Proving once again just how versatile Field Spaniels can be.

Westminster Kennel Club 2012

I am a but speechless right, so will just quickly thank Grace Kofron and her mom Jen for all their hard work in making this happen. As well as breeders Peter Archer an Kay Klein (this is Kay's fifth BOB win at Westminster with a dog she has bred).

Grace also did something that has never been accomplished with a Field Spaniel before, and won THIRD place at the Westminster Junior Competition Finals.  Although the win was ALL Grace, I'm so proud that Darcy got to be a part of her amazing win.
